Here, a fully water-based inkjet-printable ink is introduced based on nitrogen-doped graphene acid (NGA) hosting atomically dispersed Cu centers (NGA-Cu-ink). The ink enables digitally controlled, spatially defined deposition and fabrication of low-cost ($0.04 per sensor), fully inkjet-printed sustainable electrodes on paper. A comparison of NGA functionalized with different SA dopants (Cu, Mn, Fe, Ce) identifies a strong dopant-dependent electrochemical response, with Cu uniquely enhancing the analyte signal while other dopants suppress it, demonstrating that SA identity is a decisive design parameter in printed sensing interfaces profiling sensitivity and selectivity. The functional role of the NGA support is to provide dense anchoring sites (nitrogen and carboxylate groups) that stabilize atomically dispersed metal centers and create adsorption- and electron-transfer–active microenvironments. The NGA-Cu-ink yields enhanced dopamine oxidation, enabling quantitative detection on fully printed devices (limit of detection 9.7 µM; linear range 50–400 µM) and printed-on-electrode platforms (10.6 µM), while maintaining &lt;10% signal variation over 11 weeks. The approach establishes a general route to single-atom graphene-based inks for scalable, reproducible, and low-material-consumption manufacturing of advanced electrochemical sensors.</p>

<p><strong>Now easily integratable into liquid chromatograph systems, mass spectrometry (MS) is increasingly recognized as an orthogonal detector that adds extra information to UV-based photodiode array (PDA) detectors. Analysis of chemical compositions and/or impurities is a typical application employing both PDA and MS detectors for enriching the information obtained from a single analysis.</strong></p>
<p>One barrier to the adoption of MS detectors has been software to simplify the interpretation of PDA and MS data. Shimadzu’s compact LC-PDA-MS system operates on LabSolutions software, which is now equipped with deconvolution algorithms for both PDA and MS data.</p>

<p><strong>Pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs) constitute a class of compounds found in a wide variety of plant species in the world and are known to be harmful to both livestock and man. Worldwide, many episodes of PA poisoning have been reported and of particular concern to the  population as  a  whole is the risk associated with the consumption of teas and herbal infusions that contain PAs. Furthermore, significant amounts of PAs may be present in some teas due to contamination from various weeds during growing and harvesting periods.</strong></p>
<p>Here we present a robust LC/MS/MS method employing a simple dilute and shoot sample preparation protocol to determine PAs in teas, herbs and herbal infusions. This new method fulfills the EU 2020/2040 requirements for PA analysis that will be introduced on 01 July 2022 to amend the current European Commission No 1881/2006 (contaminants in foodstuffs) regulation.</p>

<p>Tianhua did his PhD in University of Pennsylvania (Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering). He then spent 5 years in the analytics group at Bioprocessing Technology Institute. His research interest includes drug discovery for infectious disease (SARS-CoV and Ebola), biopharmaceutical production system optimization and mAb Characterization with particular focus in glycan profiling and glycomics study. Tianhua joined Shimadzu in 2017 as a product specialist for life science products.</p>

<p>Nicole studies in UK in Microbiology and Immunology, prior joining Shimadzu, she worked in different companies in analytical instrument industry for more than 10 years, from Chemist to marketing and in charge of different technologies from LC, MS to Spectro products. She joined Shimadzu at the year of 2018 as spectroscopy product specialist and in charge of food quality and safety market.</p>
