Features

Wiley Registry/NIST Mass Spectral Library 2026

The Wiley Registry/NIST EI Mass Spectral Library 2026 combines two major reference resources for confident unknown compound identification by GC-MS. Bringing together the Wiley Registry of Mass Spectral Data and the NIST/EPA/NIH EI Mass Spectral Library, the collection provides broad compound coverage for targeted and untargeted workflows.

The 2026 release contains 1,259,900 EI spectra, 1,227,700 chemical structures, and 1,016,700 unique compounds. More than 79,000 spectra and 66,000 unique compounds have been added, increasing the probability of finding relevant reference data for complex analytical samples.

What’s New in 2026

The Wiley Registry 2026 contribution adds more than 42,000 spectra covering over 34,100 newly included unique compounds. Content has been expanded using data from laboratories, worldwide patents, and peer-reviewed literature, including DOI links to source publications.

Chemical structures are assigned to most GC-MS spectra, supporting structure- and class-based search filters, including Markush-style queries. Wiley also applies expert review procedures to its spectral data, with Quality Index scoring available for many spectra.

The NIST/EPA/NIH EI 2026 library has added more than 35,000 compounds and now contains over 431,000 EI spectra. New content places additional emphasis on biologically, environmentally, and industrially relevant compounds. The GC Retention Index Library has also been expanded by more than 35,000 compounds.

Note: Beginning with the 2026 release, the NIST MS/MS Mass Spectral Library is offered separately from the EI library. NIST MS/MS data are available separately or through selected Wiley bundles.

Applications

The library supports compound identification, classification, and verification across applications including:

  • Forensics and toxicology
  • Pharmaceuticals and biotechnology
  • Environmental analysis
  • Food and cosmetics
  • Metabolomics
  • QA/QC
  • Automotive and aerospace
  • Defense and security
  • Industrial and materials analysis

Compatibility and Delivery

Wiley Registry/NIST EI Mass Spectral Library 2026 is compatible with most current and legacy mass spectrometry data systems and supports integration with major MS instrument platforms.
