This position involves a combination of practical, technical, and administrative duties.</p><p>We’re seeking the ability to understand laboratory procedures, exercise independence in tasks, and able to mentor other team members.</p><p><strong>We have two full-time opportunities available covering the shift pattern of: Tuesday - Saturday, 9:00AM – 5:30PM.</strong></p><h4><strong>The Day to Day</strong></h4><p>The successful applicants will undertake a range of duties including the following:</p><ul><li>Perform advanced laboratory tests and analytical procedures in accordance with standard operating protocols.</li><li>Prepare and analyse samples using complex techniques such as <strong>spectroscopy, chromatography, PCR etc</strong>.</li><li>Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment, ensuring optimal performance.</li><li>Troubleshoot technical issues related to procedures, equipment, and materials.</li><li>Able to perform the daily, weekly and monthly maintenance on instrumentation.</li><li>Collect, interpret and analyse data, to determine trends.</li><li>Assist in developing and validating new testing methods or procedures.</li><li>Responsible for compliance with regulatory and safety standards within the team.</li><li>Ensuring client turnaround times are met</li><li>Follow all laboratory safety protocols and <span style="text-decoration:inherit;">wear&nbsp;appropriate</span> <span style="text-decoration:inherit;">personal&nbsp;protective</span> equipment (PPE).</li><li>Daily ad hock tasks&nbsp;</li></ul><h4><strong>The Essentials</strong></h4><p>The successful candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:</p><ul><li>Laboratory certificate or qualification in science preferred</li><li>An understanding of safety precautions necessary while working with samples of unknown hazard&nbsp;</li><li>Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.&nbsp;</li><li>Involved in daily housekeeping of the laboratory</li><li>A strong commitment to client service</li><li>Ability to work well in a team orientated environment</li><li>Good communication and organisational skills</li></ul><h4><strong>Working at ALS</strong></h4><p>The ALS team is a diverse and dedicated community united by our passion to make a difference in the world.</p><p>Our values are important to us, and shape how we work, how we treat each other and how we recognise excellence.&nbsp;</p><p>At ALS, you’ll be supported to develop new skills and reach your full potential.
