Thomas (Tony) Considine is a Principal Scientist with Waters' Core Separations Portfolio and joined the company in April 2026. With more than two decades of industry experience, he specializes in separation science, LC-MS, analytical method development, and workflow optimization across pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, and environmental applications.
Prior to Waters, Tony held scientific and leadership roles at the Broad Institute, GSK, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Moderna, and Bristol Myers Squibb, supporting genomics, small molecule drug discovery, mRNA and lipid nanoparticle (LNP) characterization, and commercial manufacturing.
At Waters, he has focused on ultra-short-chain PFAS method optimization, improving chromatographic performance, sensitivity, and sample preparation workflows for food and environmental analysis.

Makda Araya is a Senior Scientist with Waters Core Separations Portfolio, where she develops advanced analytical and sample preparation technologies to address challenges in pharmaceutical, bioanalytical, food, and environmental testing.
As part of the Chemistry R&D organization, she specializes in separation science, small-molecule characterization, and bioanalytical method development. Her expertise includes solid-phase extraction (SPE) workflow design and optimization for a broad range of therapeutic molecules, including modified oligonucleotides, ASOs, and siRNAs. Most recently, she has led efforts to automate GLP-1 bioanalytical sample preparation and modernize AflaTest immunoaffinity workflows for aflatoxin detection in corn.
