Agilent G4590-67100 is an original complete MS Tail Heater Assembly designed for the GC/MS interface of the Agilent Intuvo 9000 GC. The assembly provides controlled heating around the MS tail, which transfers column effluent from the Intuvo chromatographic flow path through the GC/MS interface and into the mass spectrometer ion source.
The offered unit is supplied in original Agilent Technologies packaging labeled G4590-67100 – MS Tail Heater Assembly with Package. The complete package also includes the G4590-60120 – MS Tail Assembly Install Kit and the associated heater insulation components.
MS Tail Heater Assembly Function
In the Intuvo 9000 platform, the GC/MS Tail transfers column effluent from the heated chromatographic bus through the GC/MS interface and into the mass spectrometer ionization chamber.
The MS Tail Heater Assembly provides additional heating around this section of the flow path and helps:
- maintain the required transfer-path temperature,
- minimize condensation of less volatile analytes,
- support efficient sample transfer from GC to MS,
- maintain thermal continuity between the Intuvo bus and the GC/MS interface.
The MS tail is maintained at temperature by the combined action of the heated Intuvo bus, MS Tail Heater Assembly, and heated GC/MS interface.
Design and Installation
The assembly forms a heated enclosure around the MS tail. During service, the heater assembly can be opened via its clamp mechanism to provide access to the GC/MS tail.
The complete service arrangement includes:
- MS Tail Heater Assembly,
- heater clamp,
- thermal insulation,
- installation components,
- G4590-60120 MS Tail Assembly Install Kit.
The chromatographic MS Tail itself is a separate component and has its own part number depending on the system configuration.
Compatibility
G4590-67100 is intended for:
- Agilent Intuvo 9000 GC
- Intuvo GC/MS configurations
- Agilent 5977 Series GC/MSD configurations using Intuvo 9000
- Agilent 7000/7010 Series GC/TQ configurations using Intuvo 9000
Exact compatibility with the individual MS generation and ion-source configuration should be verified against the instrument configuration and serial number before installation.
