Features

The Agilent Cary 60 UV-Vis, G6860A, is a double-beam UV-Visible spectrophotometer designed for routine and research molecular spectroscopy. It provides a 190–1100 nm wavelength range, fixed 1.5 nm spectral bandwidth, and scan rates up to 24,000 nm/min, allowing the entire wavelength range to be scanned in less than three seconds. Its xenon flash lamp requires no warm-up and supports rapid measurements while minimizing photodegradation of sensitive samples.

Xenon Flash Lamp

The Cary 60 uses an 80 Hz xenon flash lamp that requires no warm-up and delivers low thermal and photochemical load to the sample.

Benefits include:

  • immediate measurement readiness,
  • reduced sample photodegradation,
  • long lamp lifetime,
  • fast kinetic measurements,
  • lower routine lamp-maintenance requirements.

Agilent specifies a lamp lifetime of approximately 3 billion flashes and provides a 10-year replacement warranty for lamps in eligible new Cary 60 instruments purchased through Agilent or participating partners.

High-Speed Scanning and Kinetics

With a maximum scan rate of 24,000 nm/min, the Cary 60 can scan the entire UV-Vis wavelength range in less than three seconds.

Data acquisition at up to 80 points per second supports applications including:

  • fast reaction kinetics,
  • enzyme reactions,
  • dissolution monitoring,
  • time-resolved UV-Vis measurements,
  • rapid screening.

Small-Volume Measurements

The highly focused optical beam supports microvolume accessories for precious or limited samples.

With suitable accessories, Agilent describes measurements using sample volumes of less than 4 µL.

Fiber-Optic Sampling

Optional fiber-optic probes enable remote absorbance measurements without transferring the sample into a conventional cuvette.

Typical applications include:

  • in situ analysis,
  • reaction vessels,
  • dissolution testing,
  • large or difficult-to-handle samples,
  • remote sampling points.
