Features

The Agilent G2587-67631 is a service collision-cell assembly intended for the Agilent 6575 Revident LC/Q-TOF mass spectrometer. The collision cell is a key component of the MS/MS ion path between the quadrupole and TOF analyzer. Precursor ions selected by the quadrupole undergo collision-induced dissociation (CID) within the cell, and the resulting product ions are subsequently transferred to the time-of-flight analyzer.

Technical Specifications

  • Part Number: G2587-67631
  • Product Type: Collision-cell / MS service assembly
  • Compatible System: Agilent 6575 Revident LC/Q-TOF
  • Technique: LC/Q-TOF, LC/MS/MS
  • Function: Precursor-ion fragmentation
  • Fragmentation Mechanism: Collision-Induced Dissociation (CID)
  • Collision Gas: Nitrogen

Collision Cell Function

During tandem mass spectrometry, a precursor ion selected by the quadrupole enters the collision cell, where interactions with collision gas produce controlled fragmentation. The resulting product ions are transferred to the TOF analyzer for high-resolution, accurate-mass measurement.

This process supports applications including:

  • molecular structure characterization,
  • compound identity confirmation,
  • product-ion MS/MS spectra,
  • unknown screening,
  • library matching,
  • metabolomics and other omics workflows.

The Revident platform supports acquisition modes including Targeted MS/MS, Directed MS/MS, and Auto MS/MS.

Typical Applications

  • Service of Agilent 6575 Revident LC/Q-TOF systems
  • Replacement of a damaged collision cell
  • LC/Q-TOF refurbishment
  • Restoration of MS/MS fragmentation performance
  • Preventive or corrective mass spectrometer maintenance
