It is widely used to control insects on crops in the pesticide market. OPs disrupt the nervous system by ingestion and contact. These are a toxic substance that cause headaches, dizziness, nausea and convulsions. Because of the side effects of these OPs, in Korea, residual standards are also operated in the water quality environment field. In the past, solvent extraction was used as a pretreatment method for water quality testing, but this required excessive solvent use and complex extraction processes. Therefore, the simpler Solid Phase Micro Extraction (SPME)-Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (ES 05501.5) method has been revised and published by the National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER) [1].</p><p>This application news describes the suitability of OPs analysis using SPME automatic injection (AOC-6000 Plus) and GCMS-QP2020 NX for Diazinon, Parathion, Phenitrothion based on the Environmental Standards for drinking water pollution, and Phenthoate, EPN based on the Official test standards for environmental pollution.</p><p><strong>Conclusion</strong></p><p>This application news is to analyze five types of OPs according to the Standard for Quality Test of Drinking Water. The suitability of the analysis was confirmed using Shimadzu AOC-6000 Plus and GCMS-QP2020 NX.</p><p>All components showed good linearity with the R<sup>2</sup> value of 0.998 or higher in the concentration (0.1-10) μg/mL range. MDL, LOQ, accuracy, and precision were excellent at (0.03 to 0.06) ng/mL, (0.10 to 0.20) ng/mL, (87.6 to 108.2), and (2.2 to 4.9), respectively, and were found to satisfy the method criteria.</p><p>Based on these results, it was confirmed that the use of AOC-6000 Plus and GCMS-QP2020 NX can automate fiber conditioning, pre-treatment and GC injection, making it more convenient to analyze and obtain excellent analysis results.</p><h4><strong>2. Agilent Technologies: </strong><a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://gcms.labrulez.com/labrulez-bucket-strapi-h3hsga3/an_semivolatile_organic_compounds_analysis_5994_7686en_agilent_5c1d579274.pdf"><strong>Novel Column Chemistry Raises the Bar on Sensitivity and Data Accuracy in the Analysis of Semivolatile Organic Compounds</strong></a></h4><ul><li>Application</li></ul><p><strong>Abstract</strong></p><p>As ionization sources continue to advance, lowering limits of detection and increasing confidence in analyte identification, column technologies can also be used in conjunction to push the practical limits of sensitivity and data accuracy. Increases in the detection of analyte response also result in unwanted increases in the detection of background noise. Gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) column technology that lowers interfering column bleed ions and elevated bleed baselines, maintains peak shape for active compounds, and can withstand aggressive thermal cycling can greatly enhance the performance and productivity of GC/MS methods. This application note examines how column attributes like bleed, inertness, and thermal stability can further benefit the sensitivity and accuracy of an MS. This study illustrates achievable data parameters, like sensitivity limits at trace levels, retention time consistencies, and data accuracy for active semivolatile organic compounds (SVOCs), when the Agilent 7010D triple quadrupole GC/MS (GC/TQ) system is used.</p><p><strong>Introduction</strong></p><p>Governmental regulatory authorities have established method and performance criteria for GC/MS measurement of SVOCs that are identified as pollutants in environmental and industrial matrices. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) method 8270, for example, contains a list of over 200 compounds, some of which can be susceptible to unwanted chemical activity in the instrument flow path, resulting in data quality degradation. If the performance criteria of method 8270 are not met, system maintenance is often needed, such as liner replacement<br>followed by column trimming or replacement, resulting in unplanned instrument downtime.</p><p>Monitoring of the DFTPP tuning standard, which contains 4,4'-DDT, pentachlorophenol, and benzidine, validates the suitability of the flow path and monitors when maintenance should be performed. The breakdown of 4,4'-DDT to 4,4'-DDE, and 4,4'-DDD, as well as the tailing factors of benzidine and pentachlorophenol, tests the flow path inertness, indicating the activity of susceptible acidic and basic analytes. GC columns contribute the largest surface area in the sample flow path and, therefore, are a critical factor in controlling interferences in the analytical path. Agilent Ultra Inert (UI) GC liners, along with an inert GC column phase, can improve the robustness of SVOCs analyses.<sup>1</sup></p><p>Stationary phases used in GC/MS analysis of SVOCs are typically comprised of liquid polymers with a polysiloxane backbone. When heat is applied to the column during routine use, the terminal end of the stationary phase polymer can bend back and attack itself; this is called "backbiting." Ring structures, which are thermodynamically stable, are liberated from the stationary phase, increasing background noise and raising the baseline; this can be problematic for low signal-to-noise (S/N) analytes. Peak integration can become less repeatable, lowering quantitation accuracy. In addition, the increase in freed ring structures—which fragment in the ion source—and analytes can cause spectral interference in extracted mass spectra and decrease the qualitative score of a library spectral hit. The Agilent J&amp;W HP-5Q and DB-5Q GC columns have an increased thermal stability at upper temperature limits, allowing for less spectral interference, lower levels of column bleed, and better data quality, especially for heavier analytes that may suffer from issues with lower S/N.<sup>2</sup></p><p>The new Agilent high-efficiency ion source (HES) 2.0, as seen in Figures 1 and 2, is equipped with a novel dipolar RF lens that redirects carrier gas and low mass ions by &gt; 95%. The deflected ions land on adjacent lenses and are pumped out before entering the mass analyzer, providing reduced noise and extended instrument robustness while maintaining sensitivity. A ramped RF amplitude versus mass is implemented to avoid spectrum tilt. The reduction of noise allows for a further increase of sensitivity to attogram-level detection limits. Built-in intelligence features such as SWARM autotune and early maintenance feedback further enhance instrument performance and diagnostic capabilities. The DB-5Q GC column and the HES 2.0 work in concert to increase the robustness of difficult analyses such as that of SVOCs.<sup>3,4</sup></p><p><strong>Conclusion</strong></p><p>This application note demonstrates that the Agilent J&amp;W DB-5Q GC column can exceed the performance requirements of EPA method 8270. Agilent Ultra Inert chemistry across the sample flow path will maintain peak symmetry of problematic analytes, leading to improved limits of detection and accurate integration. Ultralow-bleed chemistry stabilizes baselines and reduces interfering bleed ions. High-temperature stability allows for the repeated temperature cycling needed for high throughput methods, even when analyzing heavy, complex soil matrices. The matching selectivity of the J&amp;W DB-5Q compared to the Agilent J&amp;W DB-5ms UI allows for seamless adoption, including compatibility with existing retention time locking libraries. The analytical performance of the DB-5Q coupled with the upgraded Agilent HES 2.0 allows for optimal sensitivity, as well as the ability to perform targeted and nontargeted analyses in tandem.</p><h4><strong>3. Supplements are the most popular botanical products sold over the counter in pharmacies, groceries and online stores, therefore, manufacturers must ensure that the raw materials are safe for consumption. Pesticides are chemicals used for crop protection against a variety of pests such as weeds, fungi, rodents, and insects. Because of their extensive use, pesticides can be found in the air, soil, water, and ultimately in the food chain. Despite their use being highly regulated, misuse of pesticides can lead to unwanted contamination of food or other plant-based consumer products, and have possible impacts on both human and environmental health.</p><p>When analyzing pesticides, GC-MS/MS is employed to detect trace levels. Helium is the most common carrier gas used for gas chromatography thanks to its high chromatographic efficiency and inertness. Recent price rises in helium and supply issues caused by shortages have led GC manufacturers, researchers, and analysts to investigate possible mitigation options that entail either switching to alternative carrier gases or reducing the helium consumption. The Thermo Scientific™ HeSaver-H<sub>2</sub>Safer™ carrier gas saving technology 1 offers an innovative and smart approach to dramatically reduce carrier gas consumption, especially during GC operation. It consists of a modified SSL body connected to two gas lines: whereas an inexpensive gas (e.g., nitrogen or argon) is used for inlet pressurization, analyte vaporization and transfer to the analytical column, the selected carrier gas (e.g., helium or hydrogen) is used only to supply the chromatographic column for the separation process, with a limited maximum flow rate. When used with helium as carrier gas, the limited consumption helps to mitigate shortage issues while maintaining GC-MS performance without the need for instrument method re-optimization otherwise required in case of migration to a different carrier gas.</p><p>In this analysis a Thermo Scientific™ TRACE ™ 1610 gas chromatograph equipped with two Thermo Scientific™ iConnect™ split/splitless injectors, one operating as a standard SSL and the other one upgraded to work in HeSaver-H<sub>2</sub>Safer mode using argon as pressurizing gas, was coupled to the Thermo Scientific™ TSQ™ 9610 triple quadrupole mass spectrometer and used to run a direct comparison to demonstrate consistency in the analytical results. Details regarding the standards, reagents and the sample preparation used in this study are reported in a previous application note.</p><p><strong>Summary</strong></p><p>The HeSaver-H<sub>2</sub>Safer technology offers the advantage of nearly 4 times reduced helium gas consumption, without compromising GC-MS performance for the analysis of residual pesticides in botanical supplements, through a smooth and simple upgrade of a standard iConnect SSL injector module.</p><ul><li>The transition from the injection phase using an inexpensive pressurizing gas to the separation process using the best carrier gas is extremely fast (within a few milliseconds), ensuring a rapid gas replacement into the column and, thus, analogous performance compared to the use of a standard SSL injector.</li><li>Existing validated methods can be used unchanged with consistent analytical performance in terms of injection repeatability, analyte transfer, linearity, recovery and robustness.</li><li>Moreover, the HeSaver-H<sub>2</sub>Safer technology provides additional advantages, such as discharging the pressurizing gas only through the split line for the majority of the time, protecting the column from possible contaminants.</li><li>The Helium Gas Saver Calculator allows for easy and immediate estimation of helium cylinder lifetime and cost savings when using the helium-saver technology.</li></ul>

The workflow employed a straightforward sample preparation protocol, using trichloroacetic acid (TCA) for protein precipitation. For enhanced detection sensitivity, the analysis was performed using the Agilent 1260 Infinity II Prime LC system, equipped with a 60 mm Agilent InfinityLab Max-Light cartridge cell in the diode array detector (DAD). The developed methods demonstrated robustness and reliability in quantifying B vitamins in infant formula, ensuring accurate nutritional labeling and compliance with regulatory standards.</p><p><strong>Introduction&nbsp;</strong></p><p>B vitamins are essential for numerous bodily functions, such as supporting aerobic metabolism of glucose for energy production and maintaining immune function. Deficiencies in B vitamins can adversely affect human health. Since the human body cannot produce these vitamins in sufficient quantities, it is necessary to obtain them from dietary sources of animal origin or through supplementation.<sup>1</sup> Foods such as infant formula are allowed to be fortified with vitamins to meet infants' nutritional requirements, subject to strict regulatory control. Table 1 lists the forms of B vitamins that are commonly used in food fortification. Robust analysis techniques are imperative for accurately quantifying these essential compounds. The quantification of vitamin B7, B9, and B12 in infant formula has been detailed in previously published application notes.<sup>2,3</sup></p><p>Acidic hydrolysis and enzymatic digestion are generally used to release protein-bound and phosphorylated B vitamins. However, in infant formula, the vitamin content is declared based on the amount added during the manufacturing. This means that the extraction protocol and the vitamin forms to be determined can be simplified and minimized. Traditionally, microbiological assays were employed to measure the B vitamin concentrations due to their high sensitivity. With technological enhancements, HPLC with ultraviolet (UV) detection has emerged as a more rapid and reliable quantification tool.<sup>5</sup></p><p>In this study, a unified sample preparation workflow using TCA as protein precipitation agent was developed for: (1) the simultaneous analysis of vitamins B1, B2, B3, and B6, and (2) the analysis of vitamin B5 in infant formula. Each uses distinct HPLC analytical conditions. The structure of vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, and B6 are shown in Figure 1. The 1260 Infinity II Prime LC, with a high-pressure limit of 800 bar, is ideally suited for coupling with a small particle size column, ensuring exceptional resolution and sensitivity. Additionally, the use of a 60 mm Max-Light cartridge cell in the DAD further enhances the detection of B vitamins, particularly, vitamin B5, which lacks chromophore.</p><p><strong>Conclusion</strong></p><p>This study successfully developed and validated an efficient workflow for quantifying B vitamins in infant formula. The workflow uses a simple and straightforward sample preparation protocol to precipitate proteins in the formula. Despite its simplicity, the study demonstrated excellent linearity, repeatability, and recovery, providing reliable measurements of vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, and B6. By integrating the robust quantitative capabilities of triple quadrupole technology with the hyper-fast full scan MS n acquisition capabilities of the dual-pressure linear ion trap technology, the Stellar mass spectrometer broadens its analytical scope to encompass a wider range of compounds. Enhanced single-ion detection facilitates precise quantitation even with minimal sample loads, minimizing the risk of data loss. This advanced approach distinguishes itself &nbsp;from traditional methods by significantly improving sensitivity and accuracy, thereby ensuring more reliable analytical results. Cutting-edge software tools, in addition, simplify the development, implementation, and data acquisition of complex targeted quantitative methods, eliminating the need for time-consuming replicate injections. These advancements establish the Stellar mass spectrometer as an indispensable tool for transitioning putative biomarker candidates from discovery to validation in translational metabolomics and lipidomics research.</p><p>This application note presents the development of a fecal metabolites LC-MS library on the Stellar mass spectrometer, using three distinct LC columns for expanding metabolite coverage. The library was then implemented to quantify selected fecal metabolites from mice subjected to different dietary interventions. The experiments here aimed to assess the ability of the Stellar mass spectrometer to conduct high-throughput quantitative analysis without sacrificing data quality, such as method sensitivity, accuracy, and selectivity. In addition, the work presented here describes an intuitive method development procedure facilitated by the fast-scanning mass spectrometry, where the user can obtain information on retention time, optimal fragmentation collision type and energy level, and optimal ion transmission conditions using multiple experiments [e.g., MS1 full scan with polarity switching, and MS n with Higher Energy Collisional Dissociation (HCD) and Collision Induced Dissociation<br>(CID) fragmentation methods] within a single-injection method.</p><p><strong>Conclusion</strong></p><p>The Stellar mass spectrometer’s exceptional capabilities in biomarker verification has been demonstrated through this application note. After that, the acquired data is analyzed and “preparation” for the subsequent analysis is carried out, followed by starting the next analysis again. The method development progresses by repeating these processes, but in addition to the significant time required to repeatedly create analysis schedules, expertise in chromatography is necessary to explore optimal conditions based on data analysis. In other words, typical method development requires “human intervention”. Therefore, eliminating human involvement and automating such method development processes would be desirable to improve labor efficiency. This article introduces an automatic exploration of a combination of the column and gradient conditions that meet the criteria of resolution by automatic optimization of gradient conditions on multiple columns consecutively.</p><p><strong>&nbsp;Conclusion</strong></p><p>Automatic optimization of gradient conditions using AI algorithm of LabSolutions MD was applied to a model sample (mixture of six compounds of small molecule) with three columns. As a result, the column and gradient conditions that met the resolution criteria were successfully explored. In method development, human intervention, such as analysis batch creation and data analysis, is required to optimize gradient conditions. However, LabSolutions MD can provide significant labor savings in this area. Bruker: </strong><a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://icpms.labrulez.com/labrulez-bucket-strapi-h3hsga3/AN_M57_Lubricating_Oil_Analysis_EN_a8d3b3f7f4.pdf"><strong>Used Lubcricating Oil Analysis by FT-IR: An Overview</strong></a></h4><ul><li>Application</li></ul><p><strong>Oil analysis by FT-IR is a simple method to detect dilution, degredation or illegal additives in all types of oils.</strong></p><p>Fourier-Transform Infrared spectroscopy utilizes the interaction of invisible infrared radiation and matter. This yields valuable molecular information and allows the identification of chemicals in a few seconds without consumables or additional chemicals.</p><p>Generally, this can be used on solids, liquids and gases and of course industrial oils. This method has been widely accepted and is used by automotive industries, drilling companies, legal authorities and even at F1-racing events.</p><p><strong>Why are in-service lubricating oils tested?</strong></p><p>To readily assess the lubricant’s performance, testing and diagnosis of oils in-service is necessary. This is especially important to prolong engine life and avoid sudden and unforeseen damages to the engine. Lubricating oils reduce friction and protect the engine’s moving parts from wear and corrosion. In diesel engines, the oil must also suspend soot particle resulting from incomplete fuel combustion to avoid depositions.</p><p>If the lubricant is saturated, performance decreases significantly. The analysis of in-service oils also provides information about engine-related functions to identify component failures or harmful operating conditions.</p><p><strong>Advantages of FT-IR in oil analysis</strong></p><p>For one, the low cost of modern Fourier transform (FT-IR) systems, along with the ability to obtain high-quality data rapidly has made this technique very attractive. Especially in routine analysis, there is a strong demand for for quick results in routine monitoring of in-service lubricant. FT-IR has already started to gradually replace replace various time-consuming and tedious traditional wet chemical and physical analysis methods.</p><p>Therefore, the ASTM adopted a standard practice E2412 titled; “Standard Practice for Condition Monitoring of Used Lubricants by Trend Analysis Using Fourier-Transform Infrared (FT-IR) Spectrometry” illustrating the increased application of FT-IR spectroscopy in this field.</p><p><strong>Conclusion</strong></p><p>FT-IR is a reliable and valid approach to oil analysis, that not only allows you to access a lot of information with a single measurement, but also simplifies the procedure.</p><p>Infrared spectrometers come in various shapes and configurations and Bruker even offers a dedicated used oil analysis kit.</p><h4><strong>2. Thermo Fisher Scientific / WPC: </strong><a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://icpms.labrulez.com/labrulez-bucket-strapi-h3hsga3/pn_002806_tea_icp_ms_epa_wpc_2024_pn002806_en_699e98e308.pdf"><strong>Novel developments in ICP-MS: How can the analysis of complex samples be made simple?</strong></a></h4><ul><li>Poster / WPC</li></ul><p><strong>ABSTRACT</strong></p><p>Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) is one of the key technologies used for the determination of trace element concentrations in almost any sample type. Following its initial development in 1980, it has seen an unparalleled ramp up, and grew from a high-end tool used in cutting edge research laboratories to a widely-used technique used in many thousands of laboratories across all regions. In 40 years of being available, there have been developments to drive detection limits lower, hyphenation of separation techniques and accessories to allow for direct sampling of solids, increases in productivity and sample throughput, and, most of all, better removal of interferences. This presentation will provide an overview on novel developments in ICP-MS, providing an unmatched ability to tackle samples with outstanding complexity, both in terms of matrix load and interferences.</p><p><strong>INTRODUCTION</strong></p><p>Alongside the technological development, the complexity of samples to be analyzed using ICP-MS increased at the same level, and typical samples run by analytical testing laboratories today require the analysis of matrix levels previously analyzed using ICP-OES. This is particularly true for environmental monitoring, with region-specific standards and guidelines put in place to ensure that soil is safe before any use of the land and to assure that toxic metals are not introduced after anthropogenic activities, such as the release of industrial waste, use of fertilizers, and mining. One key analytical method is U.S. EPA Method 6020B (SW-846), which governs the analysis of soils, solid waste, and wastewaters.</p><p><strong>CONCLUSIONS</strong></p><ul><li>All the requirements of EPA Method 6020B were met during the test period of three days, enabling the analysis of a total of 600 samples.</li><li>The accuracy determined by the analyses of two NIST SRMs further highlights the capability of the iCAP RQplus ICP-MS in delivering reliable data.</li><li>The consistent internal standards recovery of 80–120% observed during the analysis of a mixed batch of typical samples, analyzed in a period of 12 hours, demonstrates the robustness of the system and the absence of physical interferences causing signal drift and suppression or enhancement.</li><li>The highest dilution setting available for AGD allowed the aspiration of up to 25% w/w brine samples and allowed excellent MDLs to be obtained, while eliminating the need for labor-intensive manual sample dilution and accelerating sample throughput.</li><li>Excellent CCV recovery and spike recovery results, as well as stable and consistent internal standards response, were obtained across a batch containing 120 samples of a 2.5% w/w brine solution, demonstrating the reliability of the method.</li></ul><h4><strong>3. Agilent Technologies: </strong><a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://icpms.labrulez.com/labrulez-bucket-strapi-h3hsga3/an_kinetics_oscillating_cary_3500_multicell_uv_vis_5994_7396en_agilent_58e9769006.pdf"><strong>Kinetics of an Oscillating Reaction using Temperature-Controlled UV-Vis Spectroscopy</strong></a></h4><ul><li>Application</li></ul><h5><strong>Characterizing the Briggs-Rauscher reaction at four temperatures simultaneously using an Agilent Cary 3500 UV-Vis</strong></h5><p><strong>Abstract</strong></p><p>The Briggs-Rauscher reaction involves colored intermediates, with kinetics influenced by temperature. Tracking these color changes is achievable using temperature-controlled UV-Vis spectroscopy. However, the experiment requires efficient temperature control, cuvette stirring, and rapid acquisition speed due to the millisecond timescale of the color changes.</p><p>In this work, an Agilent Cary 3500 UV-Vis spectrophotometer was used to investigate this reaction at four different temperatures simultaneously. The system's fast data collection and accurate temperature control enabled efficient characterization of complex reaction kinetics.</p><p><strong>Introduction</strong></p><p>The Briggs-Rauscher reaction is one of the most captivating demonstrations that a chemist can perform.1 It is an oscillating reaction that cycles through multiple color changes for several minutes, providing a visual example of how chemicals transform in real time (see Figure 1). The reaction involves several chemicals, as described in the sample preparation section of the note. When the reagents are mixed, the clear and translucent solution gradually turns amber before undergoing a striking color change to dark blue. The blue color then gradually fades back to the colorless state. This cycle continues for several minutes until all reagents are consumed.</p><p><strong>Conclusion</strong></p><p>An in-depth investigation of the kinetics of the Briggs-Rauscher oscillation reaction was carried out at four different temperatures simultaneously using the Agilent Cary 3500 UV-Vis spectrophotometer with Multicell Peltier sampling module. The unique multizone feature of the Peltier temperature controlled Multicell facilitated the multizone experiments of four pairs of cuvettes. Each pair of cuvettes contained the reagents and reference solutions.</p><p>The scan kinetic experiments identified chromophores associated with different intermediates in the reaction, enabling the selection of the most suitable wavelength (610 nm) for single point kinetic measurements of the oscillating reaction. The kinetic measurement results at four temperatures (5, 10, 20, and 30 °C) showed that the oscillating cycle shortened with increasing temperature. To better understand the effect of each temperature on the Briggs-Rauscher oscillation, the data were used to build an Arrhenius plot. The plot was then used to calculate the activation energy, resulting in a calculated value of 58 kJ/mol for the overall reaction. The Cary 3500 UV-Vis spectrophotometer with Multicell Peltier sampling module saves time, while producing valuable data that contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of complex reactions.</p><h4><strong>4. Shimadzu: </strong><a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://icpms.labrulez.com/labrulez-bucket-strapi-h3hsga3/an_01_00797_en_eae5c6e3f6.pdf"><strong>Analysis of 23 Elements in Wastewater by U.S. EPA Method 6020B Using ICPMS-2050</strong></a></h4><ul><li>Application</li></ul><p><strong>User Benefits</strong></p><ul><li>It is possible to measure 23 elements, including trace and high-concentration elements, in wastewater according to EPA Method 6020B.</li><li>The interference of MoO on Cd can be effectively reduced using hydrogen reactions.</li><li>Internal standard fluctuation can be easily observed using the Internal Standard Intensity Fluctuation Graph function of LabSolutions™ ICPMS.</li></ul><p><strong>Introduction</strong></p><p>Because of climate change, population growth and ongoing industrialization, various types of waste are being released into the environment, causing damage to ecosystems. Particularly, the adverse effects of increased heavy metal concentrations in wastewater and the potential effects on human, animal and plant health are of significant concern. Therefore, monitoring these elements in wastewater is one of the most frequently performed environmental analyses.</p><p>The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency published EPA Method 6020B to control 23 metals in environmental water using ICP-MS. In this Application News, 23 elements in wastewater were analyzed using the ICPMS-2050. Analytical samples’ spike recovery tests and long-term stability tests were performed in accordance with the quality control (QC) requirements of EPA Method 6020b.</p><p><strong>Summary</strong></p><p>An ICPMS-2050 was used to analyze 23 elements in wastewater following U.S. EPA Method 6020B. All the analyses met the QC requirements of EPA Method 6020B, confirming the analytical method’s usefulness.</p><p>IDLs obtained in this analysis were sufficiently low compared with the standard values of each regulation for wastewater analysis, and high-sensitivity analysis was realized. In the spike recovery test with SIC solution and samples, good recoveries were obtained, confirming the accuracy of ICPMS-2050.</p><p>In the long-term stability test, the CCV recoveries of all the analytes were within 90 to 110 %. Furthermore, the fluctuation of all internal standards with respect to the intensity during the initial calibration was within the QC requirements of EPA Method 6020B, indicating the high stability of the ICPMS-2050 system.</p><p>The ICPMS-2050 mini-torch system provides accurate analysis, high stability, low argon gas consumption and low running costs.</p>
