Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) is widely recognized for its high sensitivity, selectivity, and ability to analyze multiple targets simultaneously, making it an increasingly valuable tool for clinical laboratories. However, complex sample preparation and analytical workflows can present challenges for routine implementation and scalability.

Join SelectScience® for an expert-led webinar exploring a fully automated LC-MS/MS solution that combines ready-to-use RECIPE reagent kits with the Shimadzu CLAM-2040 automated sample preparation module. Designed to automate the entire workflow from sample preparation through to analysis, this integrated approach has the potential to improve standardization, efficiency, and ease of operation within routine clinical testing environments.

Using therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) as an example, Akihiro Kunisawa, Shimadzu Europa GmbH, will demonstrate a workflow capable of delivering results in less than five minutes per sample. You will also hear from Amanda Bergamin from St. Vincent's Hospital, Australia, as she shares her experience implementing the CLAM-2040 for clozapine testing, meeting growing demand for mass spectrometry-based testing, and improving workflow efficiency through integration with hospital middleware systems.

Whether you are looking to expand your laboratory's LC-MS/MS capabilities or explore opportunities for greater automation, this webinar will provide practical insights into the technologies and approaches helping to drive adoption in routine clinical practice.

Presenter: Amanda Bergamin (Senior Scientist, The Chromatography Department at St. Vincent’s Pathology, Melbourne)

Amanda Bergamin is the Senior Scientist in the Chromatography Department at St. Vincent’s Pathology Melbourne. She implemented the organization’s first LCMS diagnostic testing services and is rapidly expanding the range of services offered. With 15 years of experience across multiple industries, she has developed and implemented LCMS assays for high-throughput and routine applications. Her work has ranged from pesticide analysis for the grain export industry to high-throughput screening of hundreds of thousands of drug compounds at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (WEHI). She is passionate about delivering high-quality results at breakneck speed while making LCMS technology accessible to all scientists.

Presenter:  Akihiro Kunisawa (Manager of the Clinical MS Solution Center, Clinical MS Solution Center at Shimadzu Europa GmbH)

Akihiro Kunisawa is the Manager of the Clinical MS Solution Center at Shimadzu Europa GmbH and has been based in Europe since 2025. He joined Shimadzu Corporation in Japan in 2015 and has approximately 10 years of experience in LC-MS/MS. Throughout his career, he has developed analytical methods using liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry for pharmaceutical analysis, comprehensive metabolite profiling, and clinical applications, while also collaborating extensively with universities and hospitals. His main areas of expertise include metabolomics of small-molecule metabolites, therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM), and newborn screening (NBS). He has developed LC-MS/MS methods for a wide range of clinical applications, including vitamin D metabolites, disease-related biomarkers, and therapeutic drugs. A particular focus of his work is the automation of the entire analytical workflow, including sample preparation. He is currently working on fully automated LC-MS/MS solutions designed to make advanced clinical mass spectrometry simpler and more accessible for routine laboratories.
