Technology Networks: Hybrid Metabolomics Now Standardized

Metabolomics researchers often face a trade-off between confident, targeted quantification and broad, untargeted discovery, limiting the insight available from a single experiment. Hybrid metabolomics removes the need to choose between these complementary strategies, enabling both robust quantification and comprehensive profiling from the same measurement. The result is a more standardized workflow that conserves valuable sample, time, and resources.

In this webinar, explore the principles and scientific potential of an integrated approach to quantification and discovery, and hear how early adopters are applying hybrid metabolomics to aging and cardiometabolic disease research.

Attendees will gain practical perspectives on bridging hypothesis-driven and discovery-based science to address a broader range of research questions.

Attend this webinar to:
  • Learn how standardized hybrid metabolomics workflows integrate targeted quantification and untargeted discovery
  • Discover how hybrid workflows expand biological insight beyond traditional approaches
  • Learn how early adopters apply hybrid metabolomics to aging and cardiometabolic research

Speaker: Alice Limonciel, PhD (Senior Director, Bruker)

Dr. Limonciel holds a PhD in molecular biology from the Medical University of Innsbruck and completed her postdoctoral research at the intersection of multiomics and toxicology, in Austria and the Netherlands. Her work focuses on accelerating the impact of metabolomics and exposomics through strategic initiatives, scientific communication, and community engagement. She developed The STORY principle, a framework to make sense of metabolomics data, and hosts The Metabolomist podcast.

Speaker: Brian Hoffmann, PhD (Director of Protein Sciences and Mass Spectrometry Services, The Jackson Laboratory)

Dr. Brian Hoffmann is the director of protein sciences and mass spectrometry services at The Jackson Laboratory, where he works with investigators to study lipidomic, metabolic, and proteomic changes in a variety of (patho)-physiological conditions within numerous systems. Additionally, his research focuses on the utilization of multi-modal mass spectrometry technologies to advance a variety of research areas, including research on the aging and Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) brain. Utilizing a combined mass spectrometry imaging lipidomics/proteomics, high-throughput lipidomics/metabolomics, and high-sensitivity proteomics approach the lab has been studying molecular alterations in aging and presymptomatic neurons of wild-type and AD mouse models.

Speaker: Michael Witting, PhD (Head of Metalanalytics, Spectroscopy and Chromatography, Labor Becker MVZ eGbR)

Dr. Michael Witting is an analytical chemist with more than 15 years of experience in LC-MS based metabolomics and lipidomics. His research interests include the development of novel methods for the analysis of metabolites and lipids from different matrices as well as their annotation and identification using mass spectrometry and orthogonal parameters such as retention times and/or collisional cross sections. Until recently he served as deputy head of the Metabolomics and Proteomics Core and lead scientist for metabolomics at Helmholtz Munich. He also holds a Privatdozent appointment at the Technical University of Munich, where he teaches and supervises students in analytical chemistry and metabolomics. He recently joined Labor Becker MVZ eGbR as head of the unit “Metalanalytics, Spectroscopy and Chromatography” in Munich, bringing his expertise in analytical chemistry, mass spectrometry, and metabolomics into applied analytical and diagnostic settings.

Speaker: Markus Langsdorf, PhD (Product Manager, Metabolomics & Lipidomics
Biognosys Group)

Markus Langsdorf holds a PhD in analytical chemistry from Justus Liebig University Giessen, Germany. He joined biocrates 16 years ago as an LC-MS application specialist, supporting global customers in implementing metabolomics workflows and kit technologies. Today, he leads product management activities and drives product strategy and innovation in metabolomics.
