Analysis of Volatile and Semi-Volatile PFAS in Water by HS, HS-SPME Arrow, and ITEX Coupled to GC/MS and GC/MS/MS

PFAS testing laboratories are being asked to do more than ever before. As regulatory requirements evolve and target analyte lists expand, analysts across environmental, food, and materials testing laboratories must deliver reliable trace-level PFAS measurements in increasingly complex applications. In this seven-part mini webinar series, we explore a range of solutions for trace-level PFAS determination, including Feed Injection and large-volume injection techniques, automated sample preparation, direct injection workflows, SPE strategies, thermal desorption, and complementary LC/MS/MS and GC/MS approaches. Each webinar addresses a different aspect of PFAS analysis, providing practical insights into workflow design, method performance, and laboratory productivity.
Session 7: Analysis of Volatile and Semi-Volatile PFAS in Water by HS, HS-SPME Arrow, and ITEX Coupled to GC/MS and GC/MS/MS
A comparison of static headspace (HS), HS-SPME Arrow, and In-Tube Extraction (ITEX) for the determination of volatile and semi-volatile PFAS in water using GC/MS and GC/MS/MS. Analytical performance is evaluated across several PFAS subclasses, including fluorotelomer alcohols (FTOHs), fluorotelomer acrylates and methacrylates (FTACs/FTMACs), fluorotelomer iodides (FTIs), sulfonamides (FOSAs), and sulfonamidoethanols (FOSEs). The strengths and limitations of each extraction approach are discussed with respect to sensitivity, analyte coverage, robustness, and suitability for routine environmental monitoring of GC-amenable PFAS.
In this mini webinar, discover how to:
- Analyse volatile and semi-volatile PFAS in water using GC/MS and GC/MS/MS
- Compare HS, HS-SPME Arrow, and ITEX extraction approaches across different PFAS subclasses
- Evaluate sensitivity, analyte coverage, and robustness
