Waters Corporation: Reducing biologic QC release risk with multi-angle light scattering
Waters Corporation: Reducing biologic QC release risk with multi-angle light scattering

As multi-angle light scattering (MALS) becomes increasingly adopted in biopharmaceutical quality control, many laboratories are looking for ways to translate absolute molecular measurements into confident lot release decisions. Traditional size-exclusion chromatography (SEC) methods often rely on relative measurements, manual calculations, and analyst interpretation, making it difficult to fully assess aggregation, recovery, and molecular weight distribution. These risks can remain hidden until method transfer, regulatory review, or routine QC testing reveals unexpected variability.

In this SelectScience® webinar, Dr. Colette Quinn and Neil Lander from Waters, will discuss how integrating QC-ready MALS into an Empower™ workflow enables labs to quantify and manage release risk. Drawing on expertise in biologics characterization, multi-angle light scattering (MALS), laboratory informatics, and chromatography data systems, they will explore how standardized calculations transform raw MALS data into objective, reviewable metrics that reduce analyst-dependent interpretation and support more confident, defensible lot release decisions.

Register today to gain practical insights into managing release risk for proteins, peptides, biologics, and other complex modalities where aggregation and molecular heterogeneity can affect product quality. You will also discover how to bring MALS into routine QC testing, how to automate critical molecular measurements, and how to build the consistency, traceability, and confidence needed to support robust lot release decisions.
